HARRIER CLUB NOTES

TO-DAY’S FIXTURES. Baptist Harriers will be the guests of Mrs G. Selbie, Claremont. Anglican Harriers will be the guests jf St. Michael’s Ladies Guild, at St. -Michael’s School, Wilson Street. Methodist Harriers will be the guests jf Mr C. Lund, from the Bay. (This is a revised run.) Presbyterian Harriers will hold a Handicap Race. Timaru Harriers will run from the °ark, as guests of Mr and Mrs D. Harder. There will be a special Harriers’ service to-morrow, at the Methodist Ohurch, Woodlands Street.. A cordial nvitation is given to all Harriers and j Jther athletes. The Rev. P. I. Cooke vill preach the sermon, the service will ommence at 10.45 p.m. Last Saturday's combined harriers ace at Waimate attracted about 70 'tinners, and a large number of people vitnessed the race, as this was the opening event for the Empire Week of he town. The Methodist Harriers were quite leased with the results of the race ast Saturday, as the promising young *unner, E. Wilson, secured first prize, lay Lund, finished second, and won econd prize; and also H. Cullimore lid second fastest time. J. Eaton, who finished fourth from icratch, at Waimate, did fastest time, j4min. 55sec. This was a very creditable performance. although the course vas over seven miles it was the severest course I have ever run over. We were all pleased to see our old Irie.nd A, McAilture, last Saturday, and hope he will be turning out with us be.'ore long. To-day’s race for the Rennett Cup should be a first class battle between Javersham and Christchurch Harriers. ind if J. Morris has got rid of his cold ’.t will take the best in Christchurch ;o beat him. Last Saturday’s outing, at Waimate vas enjoyed by all. Thanks go out to : our Waimate friends for such a good lime as they gave us.
