SAFEGUARDING MEN. Bj iclecraph—Prea* AVociatlon WELLINGTON, June 19. The Hon. E. A. Ransom to-day told a New Zealand Workers’ Union deputation that he would refer to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Works its request that the Government should appoint an inspector at Arapuni from the ranks of the men in order to safeguard the interests of the men engaged on the job. The deputation stressed the dangerous nature of the job, and the Minister it was not a question of expense, but of dual control. Mr Ransom read a telegram from the Hon. W. B. Taverner, that he had given instruction that Mr R. Semple. M.P., was to be given every facility for making an inspection of the work at j Arapuni.
