ANNUAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, June 19. The Friesian Cattle Breeders’ Association to-day elected officers as follows:—President, Major R. A. Wilson (Bulls); vice-presidents, Messrs C. M. North (Omimi) and H. E. Johnston (Tokaora); Council, Messrs E. M. North (Omimi), D. E. McGowan (Auckland), H. E. Johnson (Tokaora), O. A. Cadwallader (Greytown); treasurer, Mr D. J. McGowan. A sum of £SO was allotted as special prize money for a provincial group competition at the Royal Show, and it was decided to pay 75 per cent, of transit expenses of pedigree Friesians competing at the Royal Show. South Island championships were allotted to the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association; £65 to the 1930 Derby competition. To give protection to new and inexperienced breeders, so that they might make purchases calculated to ensure a reasonable chance of success, tne Council was asked to enlarge the present rules governing the conduct of auction sales. The meeting approved of the suggestion that the time had arrived when the Association would cease to accept for the Herd Book any and every calf that happened to be born of purebred parents, and the Council was instructed to draw up for consideration at next meeting, a scale of points for classifying bulls and cows, according to type, as well as on butterfat.
