In consequence of the Harbour Board’s decision to levy a ljarbour improvement rate and other increased charges against coastal vessels using the inner harbour, shipping companies I operating on the East Coast state that they will be compelled to immediately advance all freights 2/6 per ton. It is understood that the representatives of overseas shipping companies are also considering me positioix i created by the Board’s decision, which, I in relation to ovei*seas ships, will mean l additional expense up to £75 against future arrivals.
