QUIRKE—CHARLES. A very pretty wedding took place i recently in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Auckland, the contracting parties be- j ; ing Ellen Mary, elder daughter of Mr ; and Mrs L. The brides- | maid. Miss Margaret Charles (cousin , of the bride) looked sweet in a daffo- ; j dil georgette and taffeta frock, and a ; large drooping hat to tone. She also I wore a gold wristlet watch, the gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was of deep cream chrysanthemums. Mr P. S. Quirke, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. ; After the ceremnoy, Mr and Mrs : Charles entertained a number of friends and relations at a reception | in the Fernleigh Hotel. The Rev. Dr. j Buxton presided, and the usual toasts were honoured. Mrs F. Charles, j mother of the bride, wore a beautiful I frock of brown ring velvet, with hat j to tone, and carried a bouquet of : bronze flowers. Mrs, W. Quirke, mother of the bridegroom, wore a handsome frock of navy satin celanese, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of violets. Mrs T. Charles, aunt of the bride, wore a bro # wn tailored costume and small brown hat. Mrs J. P. Leigh, aunt of the bridegroom, wore a frock of black celanese, and small black hat. When the newly-married couple left i for their wedding trip, which was spent at Rotorua, Mrs J. J. Quirke wore a navy and tangerine ring velvet j frock, with small hat to match, and a beautiful marmot fur coat, the gift j of the bridegroom.
