CONDUCT OF HOTELS.

MIXED DRINKING. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, June 2. Drinking by men and women together in a number of hotels was the chief complaint of the police to the annual meeting of the Dunedin Licensing Committee. It was reported that while some licensees; prohibited mixed drinking, others encouraged it. The police also reported that in consequence of the prosecution of bookmakers for illicit business in homes and offices, they were extending operations to hotel bars. Some licensees encouraged this for trade purposes. The Committee expressed strong disapproval of mixed drinking as undesirably tending to lead to improper situations.
