LABOUR.

BUILDING TRADES AWARD. . By Telegraph—Press Association. BLENHEIM, May 29. The Conciliation Council sat here to consider the building trades award for Marlborough. An award was sought embracing all branches of the building trade, including plumbers, electricians, painters and other tradesmen, and the negotiations involved protracted discussions. The outcome of the proceedings was that all points in dispute were settled to the satisfaction of all parties, with the exception of the matter of wages. An arrangement was arrived at for the parties to consider the question of* wages further in private, and it is understood that there is every possibility of an agreement being reached without recourse to the Arbitration Court. When an understanding is arrived at, the whole matter will be referred to the Arbitration Court for the purpose of formally making an award.
