Following submission of the Unemployment Committee’s report, he hoped to introduce a measure that would give considerable relief for unemployment this year. It also was intended to amend the Scaffolding Act; and an additional inspector was visiting the West Coast mines, and would later visit other mining districts, to report on conditions of safety in mines, with a view to reducing the number of accidents. “It is not reflection on the mine owners when I say that there have been too many accidents. lam going to do all I can to reduce the number,” said Mr Veitch.
