TIN CANNING.

To the Editor of the “ Tlmaru Herald.” Sir. —Can nothing be done to put an end to this barbarous practice? Recently in Temuka, the noise was kept up for a very considerable time, and much to the annoyance not only of the newly married but also to that of many others in the neighbourhood. Near the scene of thus racket were elderly people, invalids, and mothers of young children whom they were anxious to keep asleep. Is it at all fair that so many should be inconvenienced merely to gratify a few hoodlums. Does the stoppage of this nuisance rest with the police or has a complaint to be lodged?—l am. etc. SUFFERER. Temuka, April 25.
