SPANISH THRONE ATTACKED.
Rioting In Many Cities.
DENUNCIATION OF THE KING) (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received April 28, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 28. The Madrid correspondent of the “Daily News” says that renewed attacks on King Alfonso and rioting in Barcelona, in which thirty were injured, and a demonstration following the release of a Catalon agitator, indicate increased unrest, threatening the security of the Crown. The stormiest gathering since the fall of the dictatorship was at the Comedia Theatre, when Senor Alvarez, reformer and ex-Minister, and exChairman of the Chamber of Deputies, amid tremendous applause, vehemently criticised King Alfonso for complicity with General De Rivera’s coup d’etat, and declared that the English doctrine, “the King could do no wrong,” applies to the British Monarch who respects the Constitution, and not to King Alfonso, who, in an hour of suicidal folly and ambition for power, trampled it underfoot, breaking the Coronation oath, and throwing overboard the safeguards of his crown.”
