“FALLEN ON DEAF EARS.”

Miners’ Appeal For Help.

RESUMPTION OF WORK URGED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy rlgh t.) Received April 24, 7.45 p.m. SYDNEY, April 23. There has been no development in the coal dispute for a week until today, when the officials of the Enginedrivers’ and Firemen’s Association issued a manifesto advising their members to accept a reduction of wages. They point out that the coal dispute has reached such a hopeless position, that victory is only possible with a change in the social order, which is not yet in sight. Moreover, appeals to unions for help had fallen on deaf ears. One such organisation, with 30,000 workers, had not so far contributed a penny.
