NOTES. The Gale arrived yesterday afternoon from Oamaru. On completion of her loading for Wellington and Wanganui, the vessel sailed north lr.st evening, via Lyttelton. The Kaimiro is due at Timaru next Monday in continuation of her loading for Nelson. New Plymouth and Westport. The Waipiata will not now call at Timaru. The Kurow. from Auckland, for Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin, is scheduled to call her on Saturday, to discharge and load cargo. She will sail the same day for Dunedin. The Union Company's new cargo steamer Wainui. wnich is due at Timaru on April 29. arrived at Wellington last Saturday after a lengthy voyage of 65 days from Falmouth. She experienced about a fortnight's heavy weather in t*lb Atlantic, and for ten days in the Pacific, particularly when approaching the New Zealand coast, the weather was again unpleasant. The vessel behaved splendidly throughout the voyage. The long run across the Pacific resulted in her water supp.y running very short, and there were only about 30 tons of fuel left in her bunkers when she reached Wellington. The Wainui averaged 8.67 knots crossing the Atlantic, and 8.07 knots across the Pacific when, owing to shortage of fuel, she was steaming fer most of the time on one boiler. She reached a speed of 11.9 knots on her trials, and is expected to average abcut 12 knots on the New Zealand coastal trade. Overseas. The Canadian Transporter arrived at Timaru yesterday morning from Lyttelten. At this port the vessel will di. charge general American cargo, and will afterwards load for Canada and America. The vessel will probably remain in port a few days. The Ruapehu was an arrival at this port yesterday afternoon from Oamaru. She commenced loading meat and general cargo for London and Continental ports, and from here will nr • rH to Dunedin.

The agents notify that the Tairoa will arrive on Tuesday next, from Lyttelton. She has cargo for discharge here.

No notification has yet been received as to the date of the arrival of the Kia Ora at Timaru. It is stated, however, that the vessel is running ::?veral days late at her other ports of call. The Cambridge sailed from Liverpool on March 20 for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton. Timaru and Port Chalmers. She l, due at Auckland about May 6. The vessel will return about June 2. to load meat and general cargo for London. Ihe Cumberland is to sail from Liverpool on June 7 for Auckland. Napier. Wellington. Lyttelton. Dunedin and Timaru. The Hororata is expected at Timaru about June 9. to load meat and general cargo for Southampton and London.
