NOT QUITE SANE.
SUICIDE OF NEW ZEALANDER. (United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 15. In giving a verdict of suicide at the inquest on Mr W. M. Atkinson, the New Zealand artist, who was found gassed last Friday, the Coroner said that it was clear that Atkinson was not quite sane. The artist employing Atkinson gave evidence that his drawing was automatic. When he tried to draw by conscious effort he made a hopeless mess. He had lately been turning out weird landscapes suggesting prehistoric country. He was depressed by his failure to sell his drawings.
