Medical authorities are of opinion that the consumption of milk by children between the ages of one and five years could be increased with very great advantage to the health of the population.

The following are the estimated average yields of wheat, oats and barley for the season 1929,30, in Canterbury as compiled by the Government Statistician from reports furnished by stock inspectors: Canterbury, wheat 30.40 bushels to the acre; oats, 38.61 and barley 31.54

Reports from the North Otago district state that yields are inclined to be lower than usual this season. Much of the wheat will yield about 30 bushels per acre. Among the better returns reported are 46 bushels, 56 bushels and 53 bushels per acre. The oat yields are disappointing.
