ATHLETICS.
METHODIST HARRIER CLUB. The Methodist Harrier Club held a run from the Woodlands Street Hall on Saturday afternoon, when eighteen runners participated. The paper was laid by H. Cullimore and S. Hurdley over a six and a half mile course, starting from Woodlands Street up North Street, down Otipua and St. George Streets, over paddocks to the creek bridge, and right up the Landsborough Valley, after which some strenuous climbing had to be done before getting in sights of the reservoir. From the reservoir the trail led down the quarry to the starting point. Owing to the rough nature of the country crossed, the times were rather slow, but the short burst home was done at a very fast pace, the placings being as follows: Fast pack—R. Lund (51min) 1; W. Beswick (51min 2sec) 2; W. McPhedran (51min 3sec) 3. Slow pack—E. Sutherland 1; L. Wilson 2; C. Cranston 3. After the run, members partook of afternoon tea, when the vice-captain (R. Lund), took the opportunity to thank Rev. P. I. Cooke for the help he had given that afternoon. Mr Cooke suitably replied. It was decided to have the run next Saturday from the residence of Mrs J. E. Hurdley, Otipua Road, when the members will be the g’.iests of Mrs Hurdley. Rub the muscles with ELLIMAN’S EMBROCATION “after the game.” Athletes prefer ELLIMAN’S for strains, sprains, aching joints and tired muscles
