Mr F. J. Rolleston left for the north yesterday. Mr A. E. Lawrence, editor of the ‘‘Timaru Herald,” is paying a short visit to Christchurch. Mr J. M. H. Tripp, Geraldine, left Timaru by yesterday’s first express for the south. Mr A. G. Henderson, managing editor of the ‘‘Christchurch Times,” was in Timaru yesterday. Mr E. J. Hill, sub-editor of the "Marlborough Express,” has arrived in Timaru to take part in the Justices of the Peace Conference. Mr W. H. Steele, president of the South Island Federation of School Committees’ Associations, returned to Dunedin yesterday. Mr P. W. Rule, F.N.Z.1.A., of Messrs Turnbull and Rule, has received word that he has been elected a member of the Town-Planning Institute of New Zealand. Mr H. C. Lane, formerly secretary to the Canterbury Education Board, is on board the Corinthic, which arrived in Auckland yesterday. Mr Lane has been on a visit to England. The Rev. Canon C. J. Mutter, who is leaving the parish of Sydenham in May, will on his return from a visit to England take up work at Christ’s College next year. News has been received of the death in England of the Rev. Father Adalbert O’Sullivan, aged 97, who was one of the founders of the Benedictine Order in New Zealand, and who was associated with St. Benedict’s Church, Auckland, in the early days. By his death the Order has lost its oldest member.
