ATHLETICS

TIMARU METHODIST HARRIERS. The Methodist Harriers held their second run of the season last Saturday from the residence of one of the vice-presidents, Mr F. Metson, Arthur Street. Fourteen members turned out. A trail was dispensed with, and the runners went out in one pack, the vicecaptain being in charge. The route taken was via North Street, across Ctipua Road, then through the Boys’ High School playing fields on to the Landsborough Road, across the creek and over Aitchison’s Hill, and through several stubble and ploughed paddocks. The pack then recrossed the creek on the return journey, and after crossing several more paddocks, the runners lined up at the Watlington Store and raced home. The result was: W. Beswarick 1, W. McPhedran 2, I. Marshall 3.

Enjoyable afternoon tea was supplied by Mrs Metson, and was fully appreciated by all. Mr Nelson (the club captain) thanked the host and hostess.
