AMALGAMATION PROPOSED. By Telegraph—Pres* Association. AUCKLAND, March 14. There is a proposal before the Committee of the Auckland Trotting Club to absorb the Otahuhu Trotting Club, in amalgamation. Should the proposal be approved by the Committees, members of both Clubs will be asked to endorse the Committees’ action at a general meeting of both Clubs, to be called at an early date.

The amalgamation of the two Clubs would certainly have the effect of placing trotting on a better footing, both from the point of view of owners and of the public. The Auckland Club would then be in a position to proceed at once with the erection of an electric totalisator, and also to effect without delay other necessary improvements at Alexandra Park.

The terms of the amalgamation are to be embodied in an agreement to be drawn up by the Clubs’ solicitors, and to be submitted to members for their consent.

The Minister of Internal Affairs has been communicated with, and his reply is expected within a few days, endorsing the proposal.

Acceptances for the first day of the Oamaru Jockey Club’s autumn meeting will close at 8 p.m. oh Monday. Nominations for the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting are due by 8 p.m. on Tuesday next.
