THE CHURCHES.

TO-MORROW’S SERVICES. Holy Communion will be celebrated to-morrow at St. Mary’s at 8 and 11 a.m., at St. Peter’s and St. Michael’s at 9.30 a.m., and at St. John's at 8 a.m. The vicar will continue his special Lenten addresses at the people’s service at St. Mary’s in the evening. The Rev. F. H. Thorpe will give a series of addresses at St. Peter’s every Sunday evening through Lent, and the Rev. F. C. Lawrence will preach on similar lines at All Saints’ every Sunday evening.

The meetings at the Salvation Army to-morrow will be conducted by Ensign Friberg and Lieutenant Hay. The subject for the night meeting will be: “What Shall we Believe when so many Theologians differ?” The services in Chalmers Church will be conducted by the Rev. P. Gladstone Hughes. The morning address will be the third of a series on “Some New Testament Characters,” and the subject of this address will be Simon Peter. At the evening service, Mr Hughes will preach on “Man and the Machine,” a study of some of the features of a mechanical age. The anthem for the evening is “Hear Us O Lord,” from Handel’s “Largo.”

Special services will be conducted in Bank Street Methodist Church to-mor-row. The morning preacher will be Rev. E. P. Blamires, Dominion Secretary of the Y.P. Department, and in the evening the Rev. Harold T. Peat. The evening theme will be: “Concerning Paymasters.” The choir will render an anthem. The services at Woodlands Street will be conducted by Rev. P. I. Cooke and Rev. E. P. Blamires. Visitors invited to all services.

At Trinity Presbyterian Church tomorrow, Rev. A. J. H. Dow will conduct the morning service, and in the evening Mr A. Miller will speak on the Youth Movement Against Alcohol. The morning anthem will be “The Lord is King,” and the evening anthem “Hail Gladdening Light.”

The services at the Congregational Church, to-morrow, will be conducted by Mr J. E. Chiles in the morning, and by Mr E. J. C. Foot in the evening. The choir will render the anthems “Praise God in His Holiness,” in the morning, and “As Panteth the Heart” in the evening. Visitors welcome at both services. Harvest Thanksgiving services will be held at the Baptist Church, to-mor-row. There will be special music and hymns at both services, and the Rev. C. W. Duncumb will preach. On Monday, at 7 p.m., there will be a sale of produce as well as cake, work and sweet stalls.
