TWO BROTHERS CONVICTED. (United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright.) BRISBANE, March 8. The brothers, L. and S. Montefiore, were convicted of conspiring to defraud the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation, and have been sentenced, the former to two years’ imprisonment, but if he is able to pay £IOOO towards the costs of the prosecution, it is recommended that the sentence should be reduced to six months. Stanley was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment, to be released on bond on making restitution of £290. The Judge said the costs of the prosecution would probably shock the public conscience, when it knew how much the case cost in the administration of law. The total cost was £lslß.
