In the league competition, Derby County and Sheffield, Wednesday, with 41 points and 40 points respectively, are leading in the first division. The tragedy of the relegation to a lower grade, threatens two of the oldest and most famous clubs, namely, Everton and Newcastle, with 26 and 24 points respectively. Oldham and Blackpool with 44 each are leaders of the second division, with Swansea and Bristol with 24 and 22 fe6pectively at the bottom.
