BELINDA.
Belinda is our jersy cow and such a dear old thing, And when Dad is milking her, she does like him to sing; You should hear him, Peter Pan! (’cos Dad can’t sing a bit!) But he likes to please Belinda, and she seems to like it!
Belinda stands and chews her cud, and thinks the singing nice; (If she just knew SOME things Dad says, she wouldn’t listen twice). For instance, when she broke the fence, and ate up all his pears, He called her “pig,” and “yellow dog,” and horrid names like these!
Belinda gives U 6 lovely milk and cream, and butter, too; And tho’ sometimes she’s naughty, we don’t know what we’d do Without our dear Belinda.—There are other cows we know, But she is “just Belinda” and we all do love her so. (5 Marks and a Merit Card awarded to “Pixie,” —Geraldine Broadhurst, Gleniti, aged 12.)
