TO GROW SLIM.
A reducing cream that works wonders with superfluous fat is easily and simply made at home. Take oil of sweet almond, 100 parts; white wax 13 parts; pure glycerine, 25 parts; and a sufficient quantity of desired perfume. Melt the oil, wax and glycerine together, then remove from the fire and as the mass cools add enough perfume to form a cream. Suppose it is a double chin you wish to treat. Hub the reducing cream on to the throat with a firm, upward rotary movement, following the lines of the principal muscles. To obtain the most speedy results, move the head slowly, very slowly, as far to the left as it will go. Then bathe the throat in hot water, and while the skin is still warm add a second application of the reducing cream. Thoroughly knead this into the skin for two or three minutes, and leave the remaining film of cream on all night. While you sleep it will soak through the pores and dissolve the fatty tissue beneath the skin. Next morping dip the fingers into a strong astringent and smartly pat the throat and muscles reaching from the chin to jawbone in front of the ear. This will tighten and strengthen the muscles and consolidate the skin sc that it will not become flabby. Under that treatment the throat will soon become white and beautifully moulded
FASHIONABLE COLOURS. Most of the greens that are counted smart are of a yellowish cast, remarks a fashion authority. An exception is turquoise, the new version of which is sometimes called opaque turquoise. It is rather green—more the tone of an old turquoise, that has been worn, until it has lost much of its original blue. Pastel blues, with a slight inclination toward mauve, are decidedly smart, and the very fact that they have not been especially exploited so far would seem to indicate considerable importance as the season advances. Violet and mauve tones are specially attractive in the new woollen materials made with an interweaving of white threads, that give the violet tones a charming mistiness. Bear in mind that all these soft tones are smart for sports wear. You have but to look over a collection of pastel crayons to realise that paotel red need not be pink. There are rather deep reds, crimsons, and scarlets, like real crimson and scarlet seen through a mist.
