UNEMPLOYMENT
COMMITTEE S SCHEME CONDEMNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. ASHBURTON, March 7. The County Council passed a resolution protesting against the constitution and finding of the Committee on unemployment, and the imposition of any further burden on land. The Commission, it was stated, was not representative of farmers.- and its recommendations as such as could not be borne by the farming community. Many farmers who pay special land tax could employ two men with the money they would have co pay to Sir Joseph Ward’s scheme. The Council is of opinion that the scheme will lend to increased unemployment.
