SWIMMING
TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPORTS. The annual swimming sports of the Timaru Technical College were held yesterday afternoon, at the Century Baths, before a good attendance of friends and supporters. Outstanding performances were given by F. Thompson (champion boy), and Mona Callaghan (champion girl). Other * swimmers who performed well were G. Lawrie and Guilford in the boys’ section, and Elsie Thompson in the girls’ races. The following were the results:— 50 YARDS. OPEN (Boys)—Thompson 1. Guildford 2. STAR CLUB. Last evening the Star Club held their weekly event, when nine swimmers took part in a handicap diving event. The result was as follows Roller (scr) 23pts. 1. H. Clark (scr) 21pts 2, J. Moffitt (2) 19pts 3. Last week's race was contested over 100 yards, the trophy being the Lindsay Cup for the club championship. The result was:—J. G. Duncan 1, J. Lewis 2, T. Cullen 3. The race next week will be over 220 yards and the following week the Bonham Cup will be swum for over a distance of 50 yards.
