Report of Wilkins’ Party. NEW COASTLINE DISCOVERED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—CoD.vrlght.) (Received February 24, 7.30 p.m.) MONTE VIDEO, February 24. Maps showing three hundred miles of hitherto unknown coastline discovered by Sir Hubert Wilkins, and movie films of scenes in the Antarctic, Were landed here to-day. Sir Hubert Wilkins stated that the expedition had kept in perfect health, and had suffered from seasickness only when making short trips in small craft. The wfeather had been worse than the last trip, although there was less ice. The Expedition had verified that Charcot Island was a peninsula and not an island, with a large continent to the southward. Sir Hubert Wilkins, instead of finding land west of Charcot, had found only water. He had been in no danger when cut off from wireless communication last month, but being surrounded by a mountain range 9000 ft high, south of Peter I. Island, made transmission impossible. He had prepared plans for the establishment of permanent observation posts in the Antarctic, but the installation depended on the financial co-operation of nations concerned. It was possible for men to live in these regions for long periods. Sir Hubert Wilkins is leaving for New York within a week, to prepare for an Arctic trip in a submarine, which he considers the logical complement of his scientific work. The party came direct from Deception Island, without stopping at the Falkland Islands, and had two days very stormy weather en route.
