ASSOCIATION MEETING CONCLUDED.

Timaru on Thursday night, was concluded at the Hermitage over the weekend. There were present—Messrs C. W. Earle ("Dominion,” Wellington), L. Blundell, W. J. Blundell and E. A. Blundell (“Evening Post,” Wellington, "N.Z. Referee”), H. Horton and G. C. Codlin ("New Zealand Herald,” Auckland), P. A. Clarke (“Star,” Auckland), E. C. Huie and F. W. Petterd (“Sun Auckland), S. R. Evison (“Sun,” Christchurch), A. M. Burns and F. H. Walls (“Press,” Christchurch), and J. JStaples (Christchurch “Star,” ana “Christchurch. Times,' Christchurch), C. S. Smith (“Evening Star,” Dunedin), Wm. Easton ("Otago Daily Times,” Dunedin), A. L. Muir (“Poverty Bay Herald,” Gisborne), A. Abbey Jones (“Southland News,” Invercargill, and “Oamaru Mail,” Oamaru), W. F. Bissett (“Southland Times,” Invercargill), I. M. Geddes (“Daily Telegraph.” Napier), A. A. Lucas (“Nelson Mail,” Nelson), T. C. List (“Taranaki Daily “News,” New Plymouth), W. C. Weston (“Taranaki Herald,” New Plymouth), J. Coombe ("Manawatu Standard,” Palmerston North), E. G. Kerr and A. J. Allport, “Timaru Herald”), R. B. Bell (Timaru Post,” and “Ashburton Guardian”), R. P ; Furness (“Marlborough Express, Blenheim), P. Bond (“Hawera Star”), W. Atkin (“Westport News”), T. Williams (“Westport Times”), H. W. Crawford (“Northern Advocate, Whangarei), E Darroch (“Timaru Post”), A. J. Highway (“Radio Record.” Wellington) P. Selig (life member) and D. Yaffa 'Newspaper News Sydney, by invitation). Apoligies for absence were received from Messrs R. J. Gilmour (“Southland Times.” Invercargill), L. C. Young (“Wanganui Chronicle”), W. C. Whitlock (“Hawke’s Bay Tribune,” Hastings), R. Ferris (“Stratford Post”), T. L. Mills and Mrs E. Pirani ("Fielding Star”) O. Johnson (“Pahiatua Herald”) O. McNicol, (“Danevirke News”), and E. Earle (“Nelson Mail”). The conference re-affirmed its opinion that the law should be amended to permit of the publication of dividends on racing and trotting events.

Hearty votes of thanks were passed to Mr G. C. Codlin for his services on the I.abour Committee, and to Mr John Coombe for his services on the Advertising Committee. Mr C. W. Earle, C.M.G., was unanimously re-elected president. Members of all sections of the Association expressed keen appreciation of the \ aluable services of Mr Earle during the past year, and their gratification ot his acceptance of the offer for another term. Other officers were elected as follows: —

Section 111. and IV. Mr A. McNicol (substitute Mr P. Bond). The president referred to Sir Charles Fergusson’s message, lecemed on the eve of his demrture from New Zealand, conveving his appreciation of the assistance he had received from the Press of the Dominion during his term as Governor-General. It was decided to acknowledge the message, and to place on record the Association’s pleasure at Sir Charles’s thoughtful action. During the conference, Mr H. H. Sterling, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, addressed the delegates on railwav matters. It was decided to hold the next annual meeting of the Association at Rotorua.
