AUCKLAND SESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 25. Mr Justice Herdman sentenced William James Leslie and Jack Edward Peters to three years’ and two years’ reformative treatment respectively, for breaking, entering and theft. William Charles Edwin Dean, for indecent assault on a girl 11 years of age, received a sentence of three years’ reformative treatment. Archibald Robert Windsor and Anthony Howley, for breaking and entering, was sentenced to two years’ reformative treatment. Arthur Boyle, for theft and forgery, received two years’ probation. Frederick Jackson, for forgery, was awarded six months with hard labour. DROWNED WHILE FISHING. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. February 24. j Two men were drowned in the Wai- j ! makariri near Brooklands last evening, j ‘ They were trawling for flounders, ! I when a storm came up, and waves ! j knocked them over. The names of the men drowned are: j I John McLenaghan (57), married, 14, j Somerfield Street, Spreydon. Hartle Fisher (55), married, 371, | River Road, Richmond. Both were returning to Brooklands ! from Kairaki, in a tin punt, after i trawling, when the waves sank the vessel. A son, D. McLenaghan, and D. Bassett, reached shore safely in an- ' other boat, and returned, but could not I locate the victims.
