SENTENCES IMPOSED. By Telegraph—Press Association. NAPIER. February 22. At the Supreme Court sentences were imposed as follows: — Thomas Roberts, for receiving stolen goods, two years reformative treatment. Erematoa Tinui, for indecent assault, admitted to probation for two years. Edward Patrick Leahy, assault and robbery, six months with hard labour. For breaking and entering the Hastings Railway Station, Joseph Coyle and Stanley Elliott appeared for sentence. The former was given three years’ hard labour, and the latter three years’ reformative treatment.
VALUELESS CHEQUES. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 22. Roland Henry Whippey (34), salesman, who has been in the practice of issuing valueless cheques, was to-day sent to gaol for six months on a charge in respect of £5 and £l, the latter for board and lodgings.
