FIRE. A fire wmch had broken out in the roof of a washhouse in a property owned and occupied by Mrs F. Beri, King Street, was the cause of the Fire Brigade turning out on Friday evening. Very little damage was done. BOWLING. The Temuka Bowling Club’s competition games are reaching finality. The following is the draw for the fourth round of the singles which must be played by Wednesday:A. Grade.—Edwards a bye; Scrimshaw v. McLeod; Smith v. Collins; Dr. Mclnnes v. Pierce; Gourley v. Harvey. B. Grade.—Connolly" v. Joynt; Levens v. Strange. PRESENTATION. On Saturday evening members of the Girl Guide Committee met for the purpose of saying farewell to the secretary. Mrs Alington, who is leaving the district. The president, Mrs Richards, expressed regret at losing Mrs Alington, who had carried out her duties in an exemplary manner. She wished her every success in her new home, and presented her with a case of afternoon tea forks as a mark of their appreciation of the work she had done for the Girl Guide movement in Temuka. Mrs Alington suitably replied. Mrs A. Watson was elected secretary. TENNIS.
