PROHIBITION IN U.S.A.
DEMANDS FOR REFERENDUM. (United Press Association—B7 Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received February 23, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 21. Representative Mead, in the House of Representatives, made a demand for a national referendum on prohibition, as the raging controversy over enforcement had gained momentum, after two days of slashing attacks. Representative Mead stated: “I predict that the next President will allow the American people an opportunity to express their view in a nation wide referendum.”
