MISSING GENERAL.

FUTILE POLICE EFFORTS. FRENCH RECONSTRUCT KIDNAPPING. (United Press Association—By Electric T el egraph—Copyright.) (Received February IS, 10 p.m.) PARIS, February 18. Whenever the French police are baffled by a crime, they carry out a realistic reconstruction. Thus General Koutepoff’s kidnapping was thrillingly re-enacted to-day. In the presence of the General’s weeping wife, a score of detectives, a vast crowd of delighted onlookers, and a dozen movie operators the crime was reconstructed, within forty seconds, with the help of Auguste Steinmetz an eyewitness of the kidnapping, who directed every movement of the actors. One hundred and fifty detectives are still working a solution to the mystery.
