LABOUR’S APPEAL TO LIBERALS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 17. The Secretary of the Miners Federation, Mr A. J. Cook, in a speech yesterday, made a strong appeal to the Liberals to withdraw their opposition to Part I of the Coal Mines Bill, which is before Parliament The Government have stated that they will resist opposition to this part of the measure, which deals with machinery for the coal marketing schemes, and quota schemes for limitation of output. Assuming that the Conservatives will vote against the proposals, Liberal support will probably be necessary to secure their passage through Parliament. Newspapers state, however, that in their present form the Liberal objection will continue.
