BANANA SHIPMENTS.

DUNEDIN DISSATISFIED. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN. February 18. The Chamber of Commerce last night received a letter from the Prime Minister in answer to a complaint, stating that the Chamber was under a misapprehension in stating that a contract had been entered into by the Cook Islands Department for the supply of 4500 cases of Samoan bananas to South Island fruit brokers. Mr Allen (chairman) said it looked as though a definite contract had been entered into, but it seemed that shortly after control was transferred to the department. Thus the Government had been able to abrogate it. Influence was being used, and they had to fight it, and let the Government know they were determined to have the arranged itinerary of the Maui Pomare adhered to.
