RAILWAY STRIKE IN INDIA.
PROMOTED BY OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. (Received February 9, 5.5 p.m.) CALCUTTA, February 8. While the leaders of the Railwaymen’s Union state that over 100,000 are striking, the agent of the great Indian Peninsula Railway says that the total strikers are only 7000 running staff, and 15,000 workshop hands. Full train services are being kept up with some difficulty. The Delhi-Muttra section is not affected. The Government of India has issued a communique to the strikers, emphasising the unreasonableness of the Union’s action in calling a strike obviously dictated by outside influence.
