RIFLE SHOOTING.

TIMARU DEFENCE CLUB. The Timaru Defence Rifle Club held its weekly shoot on Saturday. The conditions were ten shots at 300 and 500 yards. Rfm. C. Blackwood put up the best shoot, 45 and 44. D. Louden at 300 started with a miss for his sighter, and then a three for first counter, then two 4’s, and a run of bulls till his last shot, when he registered another 4. His board read 3445555554 — 45. Hopkins started with four bulls and looked as if he w r as going to put on something exceptional, but fell back to 4’s till his last shot, when he again got the bull, making him 45.
