PLEASANT POINT.
TOWN BOARD. Commissioner Maze presided over a full meeting of the Town Board. Thursday was decided upon as the day for the weekly half-holiday. The health officer reported that there were no cases of infectious disease in the town district during the month. The acting Town Clerk, Temuka, wrote re the possible appointment of a traffic inspector for the adjacent counties, boroughs and town districts, and suggested that a meeting could be held in Temuka to discuss the matter. It was decided that Commissioner’s Blissett and Christie represent the Town Board at the meeting. It was decided to ask the Main Highways Board, for Tengawai Road to be declared a main highway. It was decided that fees for petrol pumps on the kerbside be raised from £1 to £2/10/- per annum, as from March 31st next. Mr J. A. Smith was granted permission to erect two petrol pumps as from March 31st. Mr T. O’Rourke was granted a licence for his billiard room on the usual conditions. The foreman’s report was read and adopted. Accounts amounting to £126 were passed for payment. THE WEATHER. Weather conditions have been anything but satisfactory lately. A return' to summer is urgently needed to allow harvesting operations to be proceeded with. Stock has not been doing at all well during the phenomenally wet summer.
