FARMER DIES AFTER FALL. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N.. January 21. Aeneas Alexander McDonnell, a farmer at Rongotea, fell backwards off a haystack at Glen Oroua, on Monday. He was taken to his home and attended by a doctor, who to-day ordered his removal to hospital. McDonnell died as he was being placed in an ambulance.
FATALLY INJURED IN HARVEST FIELD. By Telegraph—Press Association. CAMBRIDGE, January 21. A tragic happening occurred in the Kaipaki district, eight miles from Cambridge, at 10.30 this morning, when a young man named John A. Goodwin (19), youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. Goodwin, old district residents, was killed in the harvest field through a stacker boom falling on him. His neck was broken, and death ensued twenty
minutes after the accident. Deceased was a pupil of Auckland University College, and had been very successful in the last examinations. KILLED BY FALLING STONE. By Telegraph—Press Association. GREYMOUTH, January 21. A fatal accident occurred at 4 p.m., near Nelson creek, the victim being John Wright, a county roadman. He was struck on the head by a stone that fell one hundred and fifty feet from the top of a slip on the hillside. Deceased was, with other workmen, removing debris from the foot of he slip, which the late earthquake had caused. A mate saw the stone coming, and shouted for Wright to look out, but he unfortunately jumped right into its line of descent, being rendered unconscious, and on removal to Grey Hospital he expired at 8 p.m. from the effects of a fractured skull. Deceased was a single man, with no relatives in the Dominion. He was 52 years of age. DEATH FOLLOWS MOTOR ACCIDENT. GISBORNE, January 21. George Nelson (28), max l ied, injured in a motor accident at Matawhero yesterday, died in Hospital at midnight. CAR GOES OVER BANK. HASTINGS, January 21. 1 A car ran over a bank at Te Auto hill this morning about 7 o’clock and dropped more than 100 feet. Airs Grenville Warren, of Pukehou, her brother (Air Wright), and two friends, AJesdames Read and Campbell, both of Sydney, the occupants of the car, were removed to the lloyston hospital, Hastings. jvaxS jit. o. iceid, of Mosman, Sydney, ' who is an elderly lady, was seriousiy injured. Mrs Campbell, her daughter of Canberra. New South Wales: Mrs Grenville W. Warren, of Penlee Station, Pukehou; and her brother, Mr Bertram Wright, of Sydney, are suffering from shock and abrasions.
