WORK RESUMED.

AT AUCKLAND ABATTOIR. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 1. Work was resumed this afternoon at the city abattoir, and at the works of R. and W. Hellaby, Ltd., at Westfield, by 100 slaughtermen, who went on strike on Wednesday. The City Council arranged a conference immediately to discuss the points raised by the men in connection with the disputed award conditions regarding pig slaughtering. Finality was not reached on all matters, but the workers’ representatives arranged to report the deliberations of the conference to the slaughtermen to-morrow morning.

Mr P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, stated to-night that an offer had been made to the slaughtermen, and that their attitude should be known to-morrow.
