ORARI.
TENNIS CLUB. An enjoyable afternoon was spent on the Orari courts on Monday afternoon. The occasion was a visit from the Orari Bridge Club to play a friendly match with Orari. The Orari Bridge Club are this year entering in the Temuka Town and Country Tennis Association’s competition. Neither Club, owing to the many holiday attractions, was able to field its best team. Though Orari won by seventeen sets to six, many of the games were very evenly contested. The Orari ladies served afternoon-tea, and at the end of the match, Miss McLean, captain of Orari Bridge, thanked Orari for their hospitality, and congratulated them on their success. Mr W. E. Cook suitably replied on behalf of the Orari Club. The following are the results of the
PERSONAL. Mr A. Southey, of Dunedin, who has been appointed to the Orari railway staff in Mr S. O'Loughlin’s place, arrived in Orari this week to take up his new position. Mr O’Loughlln has been promoted to the Dunedin staff. Mr and Mrs F. Battersby, Southland, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs R. Taylor, The Manse, Orari, left on Monday to stay with friends in Temuka. Mr Walter Wilson. Wellington, was the guest of his sister, Mrs W. E. Cook, for the week end. Mr Yuden, Winchester, who sustained a severe injury above one eye in a recent motor-cycle accident an the Orari-Temuka road, is still an inmate of the Te Rata hospital, but it is reported that he is making good progress. Mr Wilson, another victim in the same accident, is on the seriously ill list in the same hospital. Miss M. Carter Waimate, has returned after spending a short time with her parents in Orari. Miss V. Dunn. Christchurch spent the week end with her parents, Mr and Mrs F. Dunn, Orari.
