Philip Hugh Bailey, salesman (26), was charged at the Police Court with the theft of 10s from the pocket of a plaver in a tennis club's pavilion. He was lined £2O and costs by Mr F. K. Hunt S.M. For six months money had been missing from members’ clothing. A trap was set and accused was caught in Ihe lialley was given a good character by his employer, and the majority <f club members- agreed that leniency should be asked for. “It is the meanest theft-—worse than shoplifting, and no good could done in granting accused probation.’’ said the Magistrate in passing sentence. _
