"HERALD” SHIELD COMPETITION. THIRD ROUND SERIES. The third round of the Herald" Shield competition was fired during the past fortnight. Marked improvement in the shooting was noted in this round, a high average being secured by all teams. The Lewis Cup, which goes to the team with the best score off the rifle, is being hard fought for. At present. Fire Brigade A. and Timaru A. tie, with a score of 1162. with one round yet to be shot. The Timaru Miniature Rifle Association's No. 1 trophy was won by H. Duncan, and the following members will shoot off for the No. 2 trophy: T. Hubbard, F. Lewis, J. Murpny, J. Toneycliffe, A. Agnew, W. Malcolm, R. Parker, W. Skelton. The weekly challenge medal and Carmichael button were won by R. Malcolm. The final lound of the “Herald’* Shield will be fired at St. Patricks Hall on Wednesday evening.
