THE POULTRY SHOW.
A NOTABLE SUCCESS. The first day success achieved at the Poultry Show in the Drill Hall ,on Fri- | day, was more than maintained on Saturday afternoon, and at the evening session, when a very large number of people availed themselves of the opportunity afforded of viewing what was undoubtedly a spectacular, if noisy, exhibition. During their stay in the hall, the exhibits had received all due attention, and even on Saturday evening their enforced captivity had failed to mar, to any extent, the beauty that was theirs. Roosters still crowed vociferously, and ducks quacked, giving the impression, to a vistior, that a farmyard had been implanted in the centre of the town. Judging on Saturday was confined to cats, children’s pets and rabbits, and the judges made their awards only after much consideration. The exhibits were more numerous and of a higher quality than at the previous show'. Again the rabbits Angora and Chinchilla mostly came in for most attention, the former •variety especially, an inovation to the show, being much admired. . Taken on a whole, the show was a pronounced success, and the Society are deserving of congratulations on the result that attended their efforts, and on the way they are doing all possible to foster an important industry. Saturday’s results were:— RABBITS. Chinchilla buck, 12 months or over —R. C. Miller, and special, John Gold, 2. Mr Miller’s exhibit was the best in the show. Chinchilla doe, 12 months or over—R. C.
