MAGISTERIAL DUTIES.

ASSISTANCE OF JUSTICES OF THE PEACE. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 6. A deputation from the Justices of the Peace Association to-day placed before the Minister for Justice (Hon. T. M. Wllford) a remit from the annual conference, in which the opinion was expressed that greater use should be made of Justices on the Magisterial Bench throughout New Zealand. Mr Wilford replied to the effect that if the request applied to the country and not to the cities, he would agree to it. They must have three Magistrates in each of the main centres, except Dunedin, where he thought that two were enough, and he was not going to suggest that they should use available Justices and not fill in their own working day.
