FIRES.
A HURRIED ESCAPE. xty Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 6. A fire occtffred at 9A Ellice Street, in a boarding house of eight rooms, and a shop, this morning, necessitating a hurried escape of some of the occupants, and the use of ladders from the second storey. Several lost all their belongings except their night attire. The dwelling part, which was occupied by Florence Wheeler, with the contents, was damaged by fire and water. The building is owned by Denis Boolieris, and is insured for £IOOO in the Phoenix Office. The contents of the dwelling for £3OO in the Atlas Coy. The shop was occupied by a boot repairer, named David John Meekly. The contents were damaged by water. The insurance is £250 in the United.
