CASUALTIES.
MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED. By Tflegrraph—Prear AaaorlaHon. DANNEVIRKE, March 17. A young man, George H. Dick, employed in the Post Office at Waipawn, when going to Stratford to his parents’ home to spend tho week-end, met with a serious accident. He was riding a motor-cycle, near Mangatera, on Saturday afternoon, and when negotiating a hill-bend, tho cycle skidded in some shingle, and a collision occurred with a service car belonging to Martin and Herron, of Wanganui, which was proceeding north. Dick suffered severe injuries, including a compound fracture of the left leg, a fracture of both the upper and the lower jaw, and a lacerated face. His condition is critical. AN INQUEST By Telegraph—Pre*» Asaoelatloa. WELLINGTON, March 16. At the inquest on P. B. Phipson, medical evidence showed that his skull was fractured, but the injury could have been caused by a fall. G. Mitchell, driver of a car, said that he felt the front wheel go over something and foli.ul deceased s in the road. Witness was crawling along at the time. He saw no one and was certain lie did not knock Phipson down. No evidence was adduced by persons who actually saw the occurrence The Coroner’s finding was that death was caused by injuries received through being accidentally knocked down by a car. _______ BODY FOUND.
By Tslerrsph—Pre«* A»«oc1st»o». PALMERSTON N.. March 16. The body of an old woman, Miss JMe Walters, fully clothed, was found in a room she occupied at an early hour this morning. Deceased apparently died of heart failure. It is believed she had no relatives in the Do-minion.
