SHOOTING.

DEFENCE CLUB. The Timaru Defence Rifle Club held its weekly shoot on the Temuka range on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members, and some very fine shooting was done, though the wind and light were somewhat difficult at times. The conditions were seven shots at 30. 500 and 600 .yards. Rifleman H. Hopkins and President AY. Duncan were the top scorers at 300, with 33 each. There Avas exceptional shooting at 500 yards. Rifleman P. Foden led off with a possible, 35, then Rifleman C. BlackAvood got a possible 34, finishing with a six bull finish. His board read 4555555—34. Rifleman AV. Bradshaw and F. Chittock also got 34 with a five bull finish. Rifleman AV. Jones, C. Johnson and H. Hopkins were next, with 33 each. At the 600, Foden and Hopkins led Avith 32. The trophy was Avon by Rifleman H. Hopkins, with the possible 105, including his handicap. Rifleman J. Toney cliff e was second with 102. During the afternoon. Rifleman AA r . E. Jones very kindy provided afternoon tea for the riflemen. As the season is drawing to a close, the championship and big aggregates are getting very interesting. The following are the results of Saturday’s shoot, including handicaps:—
