ENTERTAINMENT OF HOSPITAL PATIENTS.
To the Editor of the “Timaru Herald. Sir, —Before I opened this morning’s paper I knew that there would be a reply from Mr Elliot. In his letter he has put forward no material reason why my previous letter should show inexperience. His letter is. in fact, an outburst from one who is so full of his own ideas that, he will not consider those of anyone else. He states that the difference in cost between the two pieces of apparatus would be about £6. May I point out that the cost of an aerial and earth- ! ing system would alone exceed this | sum. We all know what a failure the Caroline Bay installation has been. This apparatus was erected by experts, and it was claimed that the music would be heard half a mile away. That piece of apparatus is now doing the work of a receiver which would cost a quarter of its price. As for his allegation that I am interested —I certainly am, but not in the sense he means.—l am, etc., j EXPERIENCED. Timaru, March 1.
