Mr D. Tannock, curator of the Dunedin Botanical Gardens, motored to Timaru yesterday, to act as judge at the Flower Show. He returned south in the evening. Mr H. Horton, one of the proprietors of the “New Zealand Hera’d,” Auckland, returned bv the Ruahine yesterday after a twelve months’ visit to England and the Continent. Mr F. Manderson, at present on the staff of tne Legislative Department, has been appointed a member of the “Hansard 1 ' staff, and will take up his duties at the commencement of the next- session of Parliament. A cable message from Brisbane announces that Air Justice Stumm died veste-rdav, ns the result of an accident. While alighting from a tram last night, a passing car knocked him against a. stationary tram, injuring his head. Mr Justice Stumm was sworn in only two weeks ago. to Hi*' vacancy on the Supreme Court bench. Following tho death of Mr Justice Wool cock.
