Arbitration proceedings opened here to-dav to determine the value of the assets of 'lhe Hawera County Electric Company, for the purpose of the purchase by th e the South Taranaki Power Board. The assessors are Messrs E. Hitchcock (manager, Municipal Electricity Department, Christchurch, for the Board), and H. D. Vickery (accountant. WeMingfon, for the Company) Mr J. iS. Barton, S.M.. is umpire. Mr F. C. Spratt (Wellington), with him Mr A. K. North (Hawera). is counsel for the Company, which is in the position of plaintiff, and Mr M. Myers. K.C., with him Mr John Houston (Hawera), counsel for the Board. The witnesses include accountants and engineers from various parts of the Dominion, and it is anticipated that, the proceedings will last several days. ,
